Objective

The student will be familiar with the basic concepts of general and inorganic chemistry as well as the regularities in natural sciences, will understand their meaning and be able to apply his or her knowledge.

- The structure and basic principles of the periodic system
- Chemical bonding and principles of compound formation
- Chemical reaction and combustion reactions
- Stoichiometry and chemical calculations
- Solubility, solutions and calculating concentration
- The speed of a chemical reaction
- Energy changes related to chemical reaction
- Acids, bases, pH and neutralization reactions
- Oxidation number, oxidation and reduction
- Basics of electrochemistry, electrochemical voltage series
- Naming compounds
- Safe handling of chemical substances, TVATM, operational safety bulletins

The student is familiar with the concepts and phenomena related to the topics of the course and is able to apply his or her knowledge independently. The student is able to solve applied problems related to the topics of the course.
