Objective
The student will be familiar with different scales and their characteristic statistical numbers and will be able to determine them on the basis of data. He or she will be familiar with the basics of statistical testing, will know basic concepts related to probability and will be able to apply them in probability distribution. The student will be familiar with the principles of percentage calculation, will know different methods of calculating interest and will be able to calculate quantities related to annuity loan.
Content
Population and random sample. Scales. Statistical numbers. The concept of probability. Interpreting probability. Combinatorics. Discrete and continuous probability distribution. Percentage calculation. Loan calculations.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
The student recognizes the scale type of a selected statistical variable, is able to determine the median, arithmetic mean and standard deviation, is able to determine probabilities in simple cases with a classical and geometric approach, is able to employ the trial distribution (binomial distribution) and normal distribution, and is able to calculate common percentage problems.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
In addition to the requirements above:
The student is familiar with different mean types (arithmetic, geometric and harmonic) and knows examples of using them. He or she is able to determine probabilities according to the classical and geometric approach, is able to employ the Poisson distribution and exponential distribution, and is able to calculate the quantities related to annuity loan.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
In addition to the requirements above:
The student is able to synthesize the knowledge acquired during the course, is able to determine probabilities according to the classical and geometric approach in demanding problems, is able to calculate probabilities related to combining actions and is able to compare a random sample with a corresponding probability distribution.
