Objective

On completion of the course the student will be able to recognize wood, brick and concrete construction systems.

Content

The most common wood frame and concrete element frame in Finnish houses and the structures of them, such as foundations, floors, ceilings and roofs. Complementing instead of load-bearing building elements, such as windows and doors, fireplaces and stairs.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student is able to:
- recognize the parts of wood and concrete frame houses
- draw up the construction plans for a simple one-family house

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student is able to:
- recognize the parts of wood and concrete frame houses
- draw up the construction plans for a one-family house

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student is able to:
- describe the parts of wood and concrete frame houses and their function
- draw up the construction plans for a demanding one-family house
