Objective

The student will be familiar with the operation principles, structures, building and maintenance of water supply and sewage network, as well as the principles of water and sewage treatment. The student will understand the structure and planning principles of the water supply and sewage network, and will be familiar with the way network planning and zone and street planning are connected. The student will be familiar with the procedures and methods in the maintenance and renovation of water supply network.

Content

The significance of water supply network for the environment and society. Piping materials in water supply and sewage network and the devices and equipment of the networks. Pumping stations. The principles of sizing and building a water supply network. Water supply solutions in a sparsely-populated area, such as the soil treatment of sewage and different small scale treatment plants. The operation principles of water and sewage plants. The principles of operation and maintenance of water supply network. Condition surveys, leak detecting, assessing need for repair, risks, types of damage, wearing. The repair methods of distribution networks and devices.

The student is able to describe the structure and planning principles of water supply and sewage network and is familiar with the way network planning and zone and street planning are connected. The student is able to describe the procedures and methods in the maintenance and renovation of water supply network.

The student is able to apply the above listed, learned knowledge and skills independently.

The student is able to give reasons for his or her choices related to the course contents in a comprehensive manner.
