Project Work in InfrastructuresLaajuus (4 ECTS)

Objective

The student will develop skills to carry out an advanced task in his or her professional field. The course is carried out either as a working life project or as a special project specified by Metropolia. The project does not have to be a development task for the company, but it needs to develop the student’s professional skills and know-how in a new area.

1. Industrial engineering related reports in an infrastructure site and planning work for a real life project.

2. Planning a real life infrastructure project
- agreeing on the project and instructor with the company
- e.g. street plan, foundation plan

3. Literature survey on an agreed topic

As a result of the project the student will create a written report, in which he or she presents plans with reasoning and alternatives, or a research report based on literature.

The results of the project will be presented at a seminar held at the end of the course. Attendance at the seminar is compulsory for all students.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Completing the course with a pass grade (H) requires that a student has met the objectives of the course as defined in the course implementation.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student is able to apply the above listed, learned knowledge and skills independently.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student is able to give reasons for his or her choices related to the course contents in a comprehensive manner.
