Condition Assessment of Building and Renovation of Building Envelope StructuresLaajuus (4 ECTS)
Course unit code: TR00AD01
General information
- Credits
- 4 ECTS
Objective
After completing the course students are able to:
- Determine condition assessment methods of buildings and estimate the timing of assessments of a building during the repair process
- List the contents of renovation plans as well as required documents for demolition work and their contents
- List defects and damage of building envelope
- Calculate heat and humidity physics of a wall structure to evaluate the possibilities for structures to dry
- List defects of different building materials (wood, concrete, rendering, brick) and analyze reasons for them
- Identify moisture and mould damage of structures and their causes and list methods of their investigation
- List typical indoor air problems and their causes and methods of their investigation
- Rename different condition assessment methods for concrete, wood, rendered and brick structures
- Carry out moisture measurements of structures and interpret their results
- Write reports of the measurements
- List a variety of stress factors for building envelope structures, repair methods and their pros and cons according to building physics and life cycle
