Basics of ConstructionLaajuus (3 ECTS)

Objective

On completion of the course the student will be able to:
- describe buildings from different ages
- draw up a written report on selected main construction materials and construction machines
- interpret simple plans and reports in building construction, and to describe selected contents of them
- describe the uses of an information model
- describe the principles of personal safety equipment and ergonomics
- use information services in construction

Content

On completion of the course the student will be familiar with:
- buildings from different ages by walking tour
- the main materials used in building construction
- construction machines
- construction plans and drawings, symbols used in them
- the possibilities of information modeling
- the significance of work safety, personal safety equipment and occupational safety card training
- sources of information in construction, library services

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

The student is able to give reasons for his or her choices related to the course contents in a comprehensive manner.
