Objective
Students will comprehend the laws dominating electrochemical cell reactions and their thermodynamic basis. They will fully understand the signifigance of electrochemical series as the basis of the mutual corrosion behaviour of materials. They will know how corrosion propagates in different materials and environments and which factors are governing the corrosion propagation. Students comprehend how corrosion prevention methods function in practice. They will know the main corrosion measuring methods and their utilisation in assesment of corrosion behaviour.
-----
Students will be able to apply their knowledge of electrochemistry in practical corrosion and electrodeposition cases and select an appropriate corrosion measuring method, to carry out common corrosion tests and to discuss the results.
