Objective

At completion of the course the student will be familiar with the vocabulary and terminology of materials technology and surface engineering and will understand the main content of field-specific texts. The student will be able to acquire field-specific information from English sources and evaluate their reliability. The student will have an adequate knowledge of formal and technical writing to compose enquiries, offers, orders and letters of complaint within her or his own field. The student will be able to deal with work-related communication situations such as trade fairs and conferences. He or she will be able to describe products, production processes and work flows related to materials technology and surface engineering and deliver an associated product presentation.
