Facade Painting and CoatingLaajuus (4 ECTS)
Course unit code: TQ00AB03
General information
- Credits
- 4 ECTS
Objective
The student is expected to know the structures and materials of modern facades, stress and exposure factors affecting facade surfaces and properties, and paints and materials used in facades.
The student is expected to be able to select a coating taking into account the stresses from a substrate structure and atmospheric exposure, prepare a coating specification, calculate the need of materials, work and time, calculate the costs and analyze the properties of the coatings.
Content
1. The function of facade structures and stress factors of facade coatings
2. Facade coatings
3. Planning of facade coating specification and its application project
Qualifications
Introduction to surface treatment
Basics of Corrosion Protection
Anticorrosive Painting 1
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
1. The student is able to identify various facade structures and the stress factors in each structure
2. The student is able to find coatings for different substrates and stress classes. A student is able to apply coatings for studying purposes as instructed and takes work safety and environmental matters into account.
3. The student can make a coating specification including quality requirements for facades, plan consumption of work and material and evaluate costs
Assessment criteria, good (3)
1. The student is able to explain the function of various facade structures considering coatings and the coating stress factors in each structure
2. The student is able to select coatings for different substrates and stress classes.
3. The student can evaluate the quality demands and costs of applicable coatings for facades
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
1. The student is able to study the function of various facade structures considering coatings.
2. The student is able to plan coatings for different substrates and stress classes.
3. The student is able to plan the quality demands for facade coatings
