Objective

The student knows the principles of formation and structure of organic compounds. He/she is able to name and draw organic compounds and understands the fundamentals of organic reactions.

The student knows the basic laboratory techniques and safe laboratory practices in an organic chemistry laboratory.

2. Fundamentals of organic reactions and reaction mechanism

3. Basic laboratory techniques and safe laboratory practices in organic chemistry laboratory.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student:
1. knows the principles of the structure and nomenclature of organic compounds.

2. knows the different reaction types and the fundamentals of reaction mechanism.

3. knows basic laboratory techniques and safe laboratory practices in an organic chemistry laboratory.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student:
1. understands how the structure affects the properties of an organic compound and is able to name organic compounds.

2. understands how the different compounds react and the fundamentals of reaction mechanism.

3. is able to use basic laboratory techniques and safe laboratory practices in an organic chemistry laboratory.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Student:
1. is able to name polyfuctional organic compounds.

2. is able to explain with the reaction type and reaction mechanism a reaction product

3. is able to choose the right laboratory technique and works thoroughly and target-orientedly taking safety into account in an organic chemistry laboratory.
