Coatings for renovation workLaajuus (4 ECTS)

Objective

The student is expected to know the failure mechanism of the facades, properties of paints and materials used in facades, the behavior of the exterior coatings under atmospheric exposure, the phases of piping renovation and the coating work during it and the planning and execution methods of facade and piping renovation projects. The student is expected to be able to identify previously applied coatings, know the phases of condition inspection and research and prepare the document for recommendation of renovation. The student is able to analyze the properties of facade paints and coatings.

1. The student is able to list the failure mechanisms of facades and connect them to the failure cases.

2. The student is able to explain the methods used in condition inspection and research and the renovation methods.

3. The student is able to identify the coating materials required in renovation works. The student is able to apply coatings for studying purposes as instructed and takes work safety and environmental matters into account. The student is able to plan the consumption of work and material and evaluate costs.
