Objective

To know and understand how the EU operates, makes new laws and what the impact of European integration to the member states’ economies and political systems is.

To be able to recognize the need to evaluate operational plans of a company or a public authority from the viewpoint of European legislation and policies and to be able to find out when there might be possibilities for European financing or co-operation in specific company or public authority projects.

Content

Course is part of the Technology Business Module.

The basics of economical and political integration theories, the institutional structure of the EU, EU law, EU budget and main EU policies such as internal market and competition policy, economic and monetary policies, agricultural policy and regional policy: also the impact of EU in the member states’ legislation and policies as well as future prospects of the EU.

Specific mechanisms of different EU policies, such as operational aspects of European Union’s customs union, EU strategies to liberalize trade and create common European markets of goods and services, realization of free movement of people, operational competition policy, practices of European Central Bank monetary policy as well as European Union’s common economic policies.
