Workshop Course of Technical EnglishLaajuus (3 ECTS)

Objective

On completion of the course, the student will have a satisfactory command of field-specific English (bio and food technology) and be familiar with the conventions of academic and technical writing.

On completion of the course, the student will be able to follow the developments in his or her field using various sources. The student will be able to write an abstract on his or her final year project and a short report based on source material as well as to give a formal oral presentation in a satisfactory way.

Content

Field-specific English: texts dealing with general and specific aspects of bio and food technology, academic and technical writing, oral presentation, abstract, written assignment.

Active participation in meetings and negotiations. Argumentation and reporting in the field-related situations. Analyzing, summarizing and synthesizing information into a spoken and written form.
