Objectives
The student knows the basic parts of a computer system. S/He understands the concepts of a microprocessor or microcontroller based system. The student can design an embedded system by selecting hardware and writing software for it.

Number systems and logical operations. Structure of a computer. Structure of a microcontroller (8051) and low-level programming. PC based systems as embedded computers. Operating systems and high-level programming languages. Computer connections to outside world. Basics of selecting hardware and software.
