General information

Credits
3 ECTS

Objective

Student gets basic understanding about communications networks and their operation. He/she knows fundamental limitations for information transmission and characteristics of different transmission channels.
Student will be able to estimate feasibility of different transmission methods and media for a given communication demand.

After completion of this course the student will be able to understand the significance of polarization and the properties of the media in the radio channel. The student will understand the significance of the refelections and matching in high frequency circuits. The student will understand the operation of the phase locked loop and its most common applications. The student will understand the most important properties of antennas and know the most common antenna structures. The student will know the most common active and passive high frequenct componets and understand their operating principles.
