Objective

After the course the students can understand the function of the spark ignition engines and compression ignition engines so well that the students can identify all mechanical components and their effects for the whole engine system.

Content

The future of the engines, Reciprocating motion, piston speed and velocity, gas and mass forces, balancing of the mass forces, theoretical otto- and diesel cycles, combustion, gas exchange process, two-stroke engines, supercharging, engine components, cooling and lubrication, emissions and their reduction.

Qualifications

Fysiikka 1 ja matematiikka 1 suoritettuna. Fysiikka 2 ja matematiikka 2, sekä energiatekniikka kuunneltuna.
