Objective

Basic knowledge of materials and the theoretical backround of metallurgy. Principles of materials testing methods. Aluminium and aluminium alloys, Stainless steels.

Content

Properties of technical materials (steels) and the theoretical background. Atomic structure and the effect of microstructure on mechanical propeties. Principles of heat treating of steels. Laboratory excercises: tensile, hardness and jominy tests. Metallography.
