Objective
After completing this course the student will be able to dimension screw joints, welding joints and soldering joints, adhesive couplings, wedge- and shrink-fits, and dimension springs for static loads. S/he can choose appropriate electric motors while taking loads and gear efficiencies into account. The student can dimension basic cog wheel, chain- and beltgears. The student can calculate the lifespan of roller bearings and dimension un-lubricated plain bearings.

Solves basic cases correctly. Can choose appropriate gears and electric motors when rotation speed and moment of load is known. Can calculate durability of joints.

Can apply basic knowledge more broadly and calculate loads during start up of an electric motor
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
Can also apply knowledge from other fields and uses own judgement when assessing examples which cannot be calculated exactly. Can calculate durability of joints with combined load.
