After completing this course the student will be able to identify the basic engine components and their effects on motor activity, as well as other known factors affecting the performance of the engine.

3. The student knows the principles of valve opening time and its effects on the operation of the engine.
4. The student understands various forces involved and how they affect each other

1. The student knows how to influence a component's activity through design
2. The student is able to calculate efficiency of and knows the various stages in the combustion process
3. The student is able to do cam mechanism calculations
4. The student is able to do crank mechanism calculations
