Objective

On competion of the course, the student will be familiar with the means of planning, managing and evaluating situations of verbal communication. The student will understand the importance of verbal communication in production/management work. The student will be able to review realistically his/her own communication skills and will be motivated to develop them. The student will be able to use the oral communication knowledge in expert duties in practice.

- Presentation, group communication and negotiation skills
- Preparing an expert presentation
- Negotiation processes, the planning of negotiations and their management
- Verbal skills in team work and team management
- Verbal communication in international context
- Critical and constructive evaluation

Qualifications

Preceding studies: Verbal, Written and Web-based Communication Skills

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student understands key verbal communication competences needed in production work and can use this knowledge in communication situations. The student recognizes and can superficially analyze verbal communication in solo and group communication situations.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student knows the key verbal communication competences needed in production work and can apply them to practical professional communication in suitable way. The student can analyze his/her own and other parties’ communication. The student improves actively his/her verbal communication skills on the basis of feed-back and is motivated to continuous learning.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student understands the importance of verbal communication as part of professional work. The student knows the key verbal communication competences needed in production work and can apply them to practical professional communication in a suitable and creative way. The student can analyse his/her own and other parties’ communication constructively, realistically and with good reasoning. The student improves actively his/her verbal communication skills on the basis of feedback and is motivated to continuous learning.
