Objective

Students will widen their perspective when conceptualizing a garment as an element of culture.
Historical background of clothing as well as the development of the field will be focused on.

Content

Deeper understanding of the 20th century European clothing history.
The course explores European haute couture vs. the Finnish fashion house tradition. In addition, the birth and development of the fashion industry in Finland will be conceptualized.
