Optional Ensemble Pedagogy CourseLaajuus (3 ECTS)

Objective

The student familiarizes him/herself with vocal ensemble and choir music, instructing vocal technique in a group situation, various teaching methods of Afro-American vocal music, available material and with selecting, editing, and arranging material appropriate for vocal ensembles and choir, as well as producing extra practice material when necessary. The student achieves knowledge of conducting a vocal ensemble or a choir.

Content

Planning of vocal ensemble and choir rehearsal strategy – conducting techniques – vocal ensemble and choir repertoire in different afro-american genres – tuning of the human voice – artistic and social aspects of conducting – prepairing a performance with a vocal ensemble or a choir.

Satisfactory (grade 1)
