Early notationLaajuus (2 ECTS)

Objective

The student is familiarised with historical notation methods and, to the extent necessary, with the basic concepts of theory of music of the period under scrutiny. The student acquires necessary skills to independently transform early notation from original sources to modern notation and ability to play/sing directly from original early notation.

Content

On the course a general survey is made on scoring traditions used during the period of polyphonic music.
