Objective
The student should study in depth different styles of baroque music, the most significant composers and their compositions - all of this based onprevious knowledge of music composed between ca. 1580-1750.
Content
The student should develop a general understanding of the cultural and social history of the baroque era, and of the essential principles of baroque performance practice. In addition, the student should learn how to find information independently and make critical judgements, e.g. in order to write programme notes for a concert.
Qualifications
Music History. However, this is not required for those who have an early music instrument as their main subject, because BMH&PP is a first year subject.
