Practical Teacher Training 1Laajuus (3 ECTS)

Objective

The objective is to provide the student with necessary fundamental knowledge of the pedagogics and curriculum of his/her own subject of teaching for the practical teacher training starting in the following year. The objective is to introduce the student to different teaching methods and styles and the evaluation of teaching. Another objective is to encourage the student to analyse his/her own actions and seek his/her teacher identity.

Content

I Elementary teaching of the subject: introduction to the starting points, methods, teaching materials and objectives. Gaining familiarity with the specific issues related to elementary teaching in your own field (such as construction of basic technique, repertoire planning, adapting the targets to the initial level)
II Fundamentals of the teaching profession: planning your teaching, growing into the teaching profession, interaction in teaching, consideration of age and individual development in teaching.
III Guided observation, independent analysis of teaching situations and discussing the observations in a group with the advising teacher. Reviewing elementary teaching materials in accordance with the instructions provided in the Subject Didactics 1 course and compiling one's own teaching materials. In some subjects (such as early childhood musical education) the course includes a guided practical training period of 20 hours.
