Objective

The students learn the basics of frequently used microphones and microphone techniques.
The students master the basics of mixing and can use additional equipment and sound treatment equipment. The students will theoretically understand the special requirements for the sound when recording a live band. The students also comprehend the meaning of the ideal sound when selecting the microphones, placements, and settings.

Content

The course focuses on past microphone techniques up to the present and evaluates the development of the sound ideals. Both recording in a real or simulated situation and mixing a recorded sound are practised. Finally, special features of acoustic and electronic instruments are discussed as well as their impact on how to approach recording.
