Multichannel Recording of MusicLaajuus (3 ECTS)

Objective

The students focus on the 5.1 system in the surround sound reproduction as well as the learn the roles the loudspeaker channels with respect to different music types.

The students comprehend the basics of multichannel sound and can outline the central formats and applications used in sound reproduction and audio recording softwares. The students can choose the best approach for the multi channel recording. The students know the most commonly used multi channel microphone technologies and distribution techniques. The students can use their own hearing for making choices.

The students focus on the 5.1 system in surround recording and sound reproduction. The loudspeakers and different music styles are investigated. The course introduces the frequently used multi channel recording techniques and distribution techniques. Moreover, special needs in recording and mixing are discussed.
