Creating and Developing Ideas for FictionLaajuus (3 ECTS)

Objective

The students understand the meaning of co-operation in the story telling stage of filmmaking. The students can apply process writing methods to produce and develop ideas for a short film in small groups from the points of view of storytelling and production. The students master the fundamentals of pitching. The students can give and receive constructive dramaturgical feedback concerning the script idea and its development. The students are familiar with the cooperative storytelling process and the text formats and can develop the idea of a short film with respect to their professional field.

Idea of a short film, the prospects of its content and production
Text formats when creating ideas: idea, one-line, tag-line, synopsis
Cooperative developing of ideas in a small group (triangle- shape)
Pitching
Necessity and chances of cooperation and feedback when creating ideas

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Completing the course with a pass grade requires that a student has met the objectives of the course as defined in the course implementation.
