Objective

Students know the history of the Finnish radio and the main contents and practices of public and commercial radio. Students know the key elements of a radio programme and the professional terminology. They can record and edit speech and use the editorial system of the radio in programme production. They can analyze the radio broadcasting stream. They can put together a short radio show and work in the radio studio independently. They command program transmission and broadcasting techniques.

Qualifications

Open university students:
This course is part of the Radio Broadcasting Studies. Courses have to be studies in a specific order. Not all courses need to be chosen, but the order needs to be this: Basics of Radio Broadcasting, Radio Production, Radio Expression, Editorial Work, Current Affairs on the Radio

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Participating the lectures.  Exercises done, some shortages.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Active participating to the lectures. Ability to adapt.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Active participating to the lectures.  Ability to adapt and reflect. Exercises done with new knowledge to the subject. 

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Completing the course with a pass grade requires that a student has met the objectives of the course as defined in the course implementation.

This course is a degree requirement for students majoring in Television and Radio Broadcasting.
