Objective

The main focus in on post-production. Students master the production process of film sound from pre-production to shooting and post-production. They know the equipment used in film and television productions and are able to choose appropriate equipment and plan small on-location recording projects and to take the requirements of a shoot session into consideration from the perspective of on-location recording. Students apprehend the production process of a fictional film, and communicate appropriately as a member of the production crew. They comprehend the entire sound production process and master the use of different sound elements (dialogue, foley, effects, ambience sound and music). Students know the fundamentals of budgeting and are able to allocate appropriate equipment and work into a production. They understand the importantce of content planning in the whole film production process. Students will be using these skills in Fiction Film Exercises and Fiction Film Project 1 courses.

• production process of a fictional film and sound production process
• work description and equipment in on-location sound recording in a fictional film project
• work description of on-location sound crew in a fictional film project
• fundamentals of budgeting in a fiction project (on-locationg sound)
• basics of resource allocation for your own work, equipment and working time
• fiction production as a collaborative platform from the perspective of the sound crew
• elements and stages of sound production in a fiction project in editing dialogue – in theory and practice
• effects, ambience sound and foley
• development of students’ own sound expression

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Completing the course with a pass grade requires that a student has met the objectives of the course as defined in the course implementation.

The course is a degree requirement for students majoring in Sound Design and Production.
