History of Photography and Identification of Photographic techniquesLaajuus (4 ECTS)

Objective

Upon completion the student will know the basics and styles of photograph history.
Upon completion the student can evaluate the authenticity of individual photographs or collections and understand their real context.

Upon completion the student will identify different photographic techniques and understands the basics of photograph chemistry. Student can date photographs and place them into the timeline of photograph history.

Upon completion the student will be able to print with some of the most important 19th century printing methods.

Content

The photo historical periods, styles and important photographers. The authenticity of photographs, combination of contexts.
Combining the knowledge received during Identification of photograph techniques course in order to be able to identify, date and recognize different photographs, techniques and collections.

Identification of major photographic techniques and understanding the processes. Printing with some 19th century printing techniques. Basics of photo chemistry.

Combining the knowledge received during Photograph history course in order to be able to identify, date and recognize different photographs, techniques and collections.
