Objective

Student will know from what and how the natural stones are composed and how these elements will affect to the qualities of the stone.
Student can conclude the qualities of the natural stone constructions based on the knowledge of stone material.
Student will know how the bricks are manufactured in different times and how the manufacturing techniques affect to the quality of bricks. Student becomes familiar with structural qualities of bricks and different brick test methods.
Student can identify and date different types of brick constructions and knows the basics of brick work.
Student will know how the concrete is made and what the characteristics of concrete material are.
Student can identify and date different types of concrete constructions and knows the basics of concrete and mosaic concrete work techniques.

Content

The structure and characteristics of natural stone material. The basics of building constructions made of natural stone. Identification of the natural stones. Recognising the building constructions made of natural stone.
The knowledge of brick manufactory techniques and brick materials science. The basics of brick constructions and their history. Analysing bricks by their outlook.
How to make concrete and mosaic concrete and their material science. The basics of concrete constructions and their history. Research of concrete surfaces by their outlook.

Qualifications

Basic knowledge of the conservation chemistry and building constructions.
