Objective

The student knows the history of Western furniture and interior decoration and can identify the different style period of Finnish and Western furniture, their specific features, structures and materials. The student can identify the age of piece of furniture based on used materials and techniques. The student knows the applicable literature and archival sources and can use them for research of a peace of furniture.

The history of furniture and interior decoration in Europe from Antique world to Modern.
Furniture and interior decoration in Finland and Sweden.
Materials, techniques and construction of furniture and interior decoration.

Approved passing of the course demands that the student fulfills the requirements specified in each course implementation.
