Objective
The student will understand the development of the Western arts and crafts into industrial design. The student will know the essential trends and major artists and designers of Western world. The student will understand the economical, social and historical context of arts and crafts and industrial design. The student will be able to identify and relate an object or a work of art to its historical and social context.

•The major art movements and leading designers
•Arts and crafts, industrial art and design in Finland.
•The relationship between design and economical, social and industrial development.
