Objective

- Student trains oneself to be an active member of community and society
- Student gets practice in interaction skills and meeting and negotiation techniques as well as is capable of applying the skills in the future work
- Student acquires capabilities in preparing, presenting and deciding of the issues of the Student Union
- Student learns to act in a public entity
- Student understands the position and role of the Student Union within the University of Applied Sciences
- Student familiarizes oneself with one’s own sector and is capable of proportioning it for the basic tasks of the Student Union

Content

- Acting in the board of the Student Union for at least one term (11 months)
- Learning to do effective lobbying work and gaining a holistic view of the higher education
- Familiarizing oneself with the legal obligations of the Student Union and the Polytechnics Act
- Discerning the national scope of Student Union work
- Participating in the national trainings organized by The Union of Students in Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences – SAMOK
- Participating in the night schools and other educational activities organized for the board members of the Student Union

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

- Active participation in the work of the Student Union
- Participation in the trainings and sector specific discussions of the Student Union
- Familiarising with the literature
- Learning diary (three parts)
- Sector specific activity report
- Assessment discussion
