Objective
After completing the study unit, students are well familiar with the operating environment of social and health care to form a basis for their professionalism. They understand the legislation on registered optometrists and optometry as well as have internalised the ethical thinking required of a health care professional. Students perceive the Finnish vision care system and actors in it.
Students are able to identify the physical work load factors and can distinguish whether caused by the working environment, the tools or their own activities as well as he is able to produce less loading ways of working.
Content
Value foundation for the social and health care sector, legislation and principles of the optical sector, requisites for multiprofessionalism, the Finnish vision care system and actors in the optical field, optical retail outlets and their operation, ethical board of the optical field, ethical concepts, ethical guidelines for practising optometry, ergonomics as a science, function and philosophy, base knowledge of physical ergonomics, assessment of work stress

Students use the appropriate core concepts as well as make choices using the knowledge base of their own professional field. They recognise the prerequisites and consequences of their own actions.
Students’ actions follow the rules and instructions given, and they use working methods appropriately and safely.
