Objective

Students can define the most common eye diseases, their examination methods and treatment. After completing an internal and external examination of the eye, students can detect the most common eye diseases and are able to refer their clients to further examination or treatment if required. Students can provide the necessary first aid in eye injuries.

Content

Diseases of the anterior and posterior segments of the eye and its adjoining organs, disorders in the eye movements and the pupil reactions, diseases in the optic nerve, and defects of the visual fields, toxic reactions in the eye, impact of the systemic diseases on the eye, headaches, and first aid in eye injuries.

Students use the appropriate core concepts as well as make choices using the knowledge base of their own professional field. They recognise the prerequisites and consequences of their own actions.
