Fitting of contact lenses 3Laajuus (3 ECTS)

Objective

After completing the study unit, students know how to fit soft toric and multifocal contact lenses. They can conduct contact lens wearer’s follow-up examination, identify major complications caused by contact lenses, document fitting details clearly to client’s records and write out the prescription for contact lenses. Students are familiar with the basic principles of fitting rigid gas permeable lenses and are able to fit rigid lenses in simple cases. They can name basic features of special lenses. Students search for information on lenses currently on the market and are able to describe the contact lens market and operators in it. They are able to apply legislation on contact lenses and its requirements to the fitting of lenses and client records. Students know where to find the latest research knowledge on contact lenses.
