Eyewear technology 2Laajuus (4 ECTS)

Objective

Objectives: Students are able to present clients individual solutions for eyeglass frames and lenses for their daily vision problems at work, home and hobbies. They are able to compare the significance of different lens materials and their composition with optical images as well as understand how they affect wearing the eyeglasses. Students know how to offer guidance to clients on products (lenses and frames) sold in optical stores regarding their quality and materials.

Content: Corrective lens power, image formation of astigmatic eye, toric lenses, lens structures, optical images, prismatic power, errors in design, chemical properties of lenses, chemicals used in optometrist’s work and their handling, back vertex distance (BVD), spectacle magnification
