Objective
The student knows the basic principles of microbiology, and considers the importance of bacteria, Archaea, fungi, viruses, algae and Protozoa in his/her professional activities. Through asepsis he/she knows how to avoid the risk of infections. The student can give first aid in an emergency and in connection with the most common accidents and cases of illness.
Content
- micro-organisms and diseases connected to them, ways of infection and the defence mechanisms of the human body
- hygiene, sterilization and disinfecting
- basic knowledge and skills equivalent to EA1 (basic course in first aid).

Students use the appropriate core concepts as well as make choices using the knowledge base of their own professional field. They recognise the prerequisites and consequences of their own actions.
