Work Placement in RadiotherapyLaajuus (7 ECTS)

Objective

The training takes place mostly at a radiotherapy unit. The radiotherapy unit plans and carries out radiotherapy for cancer patients. The objective is that the student can team up with an experienced radiographer using a linear accelerator to provide radiotherapy, and that the student will understand the external radiotherapy process in all its stages. The student will also, if possible, familiarise him/herself with any special treatment provided at the unit. The student will join the treatment team of one linear accelerator, as a designated carer of a patient and will complete an assignment of his/her patient during the placement. The purpose of this assignment is to bring theory and practice together and to learn about the key areas of competence. In practical training that takes place at the institute, the student will make a radiotherapy dose plan for one patient.
