Anatomy and Physiology 3Laajuus (3 ECTS)
Course unit code: SFXXA04
General information
- Credits
- 3 ECTS
Objective
Students are aware of the development of the central nervous system in general terms and understand the functional roles of neurons and the significance of the neuroglia. They familiarise themselves with different parts of the brain and their most important functions. They are aware of the anatomy and major pathways of the spinal cord. Students understand the essential features of regulation of motor functions and perceive the link between these and human movement and functioning. Students understand the basic structure of the autonomic nervous system and its effects on organ functions. They form an overview of the structure and functions of the peripheral nervous system and are aware of how the sense of pain functions. Students command professional terminology of foreign origin relating to the nervous system as required by Physiotherapists.
