Care of the Newborn Baby -Clinical PracticeLaajuus (3 ECTS)

Objective

Students learn to apply the principles of the Baby Friendly Programme to the care of the newborn baby. They display competence in basic care of the newborn and are able to evaluate the baby´s needs. Students also develop competence in patient education by assisting the parents in the care of the newborn and by encouraging early interaction. Students are able to recognise special features of those newborns that require special monitoring and know how to act accordingly.
