Descriptions
The objective of the degree programme in midwifery is to educate midwifes as experts in promotion of sexual and reproductive health, and as experts in gynaecological nursing.
The promotion of sexual and reproductive health aims at providing possibilities for awareness in family planning, satisfactory and safe sexuality, and planned and wanted pregnancies and childbirth.
The studies develop competence to care for pregnant mothers, mothers at childbirth and during the postpartum period, and the newborn and families. In addition, the studies lead to competence in gynaecological nursing.
Evidence-based midwifery skills are reinforced in diverse nursing settings requiring basic or specialist nursing and midwifery care. Professional competence deepens in support of women and promotion of equality.
During the studies, students gain competence in participating in various work groups and networks, their coordination, and the development of their own professional expertise.
