Course unit code: TE00AD05

General information

Credits
3 ECTS

Objective

The student has basic knowledge in metrology and is able to perform measurements taking the potential unreliability into account. The student is able to use the most common measurement equipment in electronics. He/she is able to use the LabView software. The student is familiar with the most common measurement sensors.

The contents and the assessment criteria of the course may be slightly different depending on the teacher of the course.

Content

1. Noise in measurement systems and the uncertainty.
2. Basic measurements and measurement equipment in electronics.
3. LabView software in the control of measurement equipment.
4. Measurement sensors.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

1. The student has basic knowledge of metrology and is able to perform measurements taking the potential unreliability into account.
2. The student is able to use the most common measurement equipment in electronics.
3. The student is able to use the LabView software.
4. The student is familiar with the most common measurement sensors.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

1. As level 1
2. The student is familiar with the features of the measurement devices and can therefore make measurements of very weak and strong signals
3. The student is able to write quite complicated LabVIEW codes
4. The student is able to use more advanced measurement devices (spectrum analyser, network analyser, logic analyser)

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

1. As level 3
2. The student can design and implement measurement systems, where sensors are used.
3. The student is competent in theory and practice of electric measurements and able to carry out also the most demanding measurements.
4. The student is able to control measurement systems with LabVIEW codes
