Objective

After completion of this course the student knows the basics of algebra and geometry and is able to solve simple equations.

Content

1. Calculations with fractions and symbols
2. Simplifications
3. First degree equations, second degree equations and linear systems of two equations
4. Geometry of a right triangle and a circle

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

1. The student is able to do basic calculations using fractions.
2. The student can solve first degree equations, second degree equations and linear systems of two unknowns when the multipliers are given in numerical form.
3. The student can solve a right triangle and related applications.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

1. As level 1.
2. The student is active during lessons.
3. The student can solve first degree equations, second degree equations and linear systems of two unknowns also when the multipliers are given in parametric forms.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

1. As Level 3.
2. The student does lots of homework.
3. The student is able to solve numerically also demanding equations.
