Osaamistavoitteet

The student knows after the course the sturucture and operation of SS#7 protocol stack and structures of messaging signal units. He/she should also now the principles of SS#7 network dimensioning and signaling at packet switched networks.
The student can analyze signalling messages.

Sisältö

Structure and function of Common Control Channel Signaling (SS#7) network and protocol stack, SS#7 messages, analysis of SS#7 signaling sequences, simple SS#7 network dimensioning exercises. Part of the course consideres signaling at packet switched networks.

Communications Networks (Tietoliikenneverkot) course or respective information.

Arviointikriteerit, tyydyttävä (1)

- After the course student understands principles of SS#7 protocol stacks including MTP, ISUP, MAP and Megaco, Sigtran
- Delivered laboratory exercises and participation to lectures and laboratory hours, passed exam

- In addition to grade 1 requirements:
- A student understands in details MTP, SCCP, TCAP
- Knows principles of signalling network dimensioning
- Well passed laboratrory exercises

Arviointikriteerit, kiitettävä (5)

- In addition to grade 1 and 3 requirements:
- A student is able to analyse signalling files
- Knows basics of UMTS and 4G signaling
- Excellent laboratory exercise measurement and calculation results
