Osaamistavoitteet
After the course the student understands the basic technologies and function of 2G and 2,5G networks. The student can calculate blocking probability and link budgets for telecom networks. The student knows the main local area network technologies. The student knows CW modulation methods. During laboratory hours modulations, distortions, noises are studied using a special PC-based tool.
Sisältö
Public telecommunication networks, fixed and mobile, and signals used in telecommunication transmission relating to studied technologies are considered. Different transmission network technologies and structures are also studied. Calculations related to radio wave propagation are a part of this course. Link budget calculations are exercised. Local area network technologies are introduced.

The student understands the operation and structure of PSTN and PLMN. He/she can calculate blocking in a circuit switched network and can calculate link budgets. To pass he/she has participated in lectures and laboratory exercises. The examination is passed and also laboratory measurement results are delivered and passed.
