Osaamistavoitteet

After completing the course the student knows the features of switched local area networks. The student has knowledge of how to design virtual local area networks and knows the operation principles of spanning tree protocol. The student also can configure operational parameters on Ethernet switches, define virtual local area networks and route traffic between them.

Sisältö

The unit focuses on the following: Ethernet switching, command-line interface configuration of switches, Virtual LANs and configuring of inter-VLAN routing. Spanning Tree Protocol , VLAN Trunking Protocol (VTP), VLAN concepts, LAN design goals, considerations and methodology.
